Open Metaverse : The next big thing for NFT’s and Web 3.0
www.bowtiedmetaverse.com

Welcome, Avatar!

Recently Punk6529 (Twitter: @punk6529) posted a long thread revealing his Metaverse project.

The goal: A decentralized, open Metaverse with 10 Cities consisting of 10 Million Avatars each and hundreds of towns, villages and districts between.

My speciality is understanding how virtual worlds function, what peaks young minds’ interest, and why people log into virtual worlds. I’ve spent the last 12 years optimizing engagement time and studying how children’s minds work in order to ensure my success on Roblox.

After successfully hitting over a Billion visits, I’ve come to the realization we need MORE than just what big web 2 platforms like Roblox, Minecraft and Fortnite are offering and I believe I’ve just stumbled upon what my mind was lusting for.

All these years I’ve encountered hundreds of issues that Roblox has had due to centralization. I’ll be monitoring Open Metaverse during these next few years to see how they can grow in comparison to their main competitor Roblox.

So after you read this post if you are Interested in Open Metaverse’s progress, it will be here for you for free, for the culture.

For the Future of how Humans Interact.

I want you to envision every single NFT project on Open Sea right now, from the small to the medium and even very big projects that have amazing communities surrounding them. You have to ask yourself.. NFT’s, why do they exist ? What’s the purpose of an NFT, where are we right now in history and what is the next big thing for NFT’s ? To push it beyond it’s current technological limits.

The future of Web 3.0 depends on communities as its foundation. Honestly, I’d wager Web 3.0 is all about its communities and culture if anything at all.

6529 stated that his initial mission is to focus on memes and education. As of right now, OM looks like it’s essentially becoming a NYC Museum for NFT’s. The plan is to bring people to the 6529 Museum district. You can find more info on that here:

https://oncyber.io/6529om

Of course, this is only one district out of 5000, which together will be able to hold 100,000,000 avatars (the goal). In the current state of the Metaverse, that’s a great number to settle in. We need to accomplish this number for the network effect, we need enough people so that brands and organizations alike prefer to use the open metaverse because the market is here. Once Facebook builds their metaverse, they’ll be able to onboard the Billions of users they have.

OM is built via oncyber so as technology evolves OM can readily adapt with it. Which is important for a Metaverse,

Now if we want to look at the curtains behind OM, we can simply dial into the current platforms that exist on the market. Most NFT projects are trying to launch their own metaverse but I believe that’s silly and it’s not the answer, most of those projects are just quick cash grabs.

The real opportunity lies in a place where we can all meet, a place where the land is Unlimited and free to build on. We can no longer simply use just Discord to build a community, just Instagram or just Twitter.

The future of Human Connectivity

Virtual worlds have long existed, there is a reason places like Roblox, Minecraft and Fortnite are all so popular. But even these platforms all have limits of their own, as will Open Metaverse for the time being.

The real opportunity here is that now for the first time in history every single NFT project has a place to build their very own virtual world in a huge ecosystem that will eventually be well known to every NFT project that's out there.

Sure you can build a world in roblox that revolves around your NFT project, maybe a game or a nice museum. But right now Roblox has still yet to implement NFT capabilities even though their Chief Busines Officer has plans to pursue NFT’s, they are behind and we will not wait for them to progress technology.

In Open Metaverse we finally have a place where we can show off our NFT’s in their own museum’s, where as OM tech evolves we can start to create interactive worlds that revolve around these NFT’s, from concerts to places of gathering to fun worlds where our kids can go and play inside of.

Right now no other project is creating this opportunity.

As I discussed in previous Tweets, the future of communication and how people interact will be the Metaverse, it won’t be some social media app, and it won’t be some messaging platform. But a combination of all of these things into one. 6529’s project seems to be designed for exactly that.

Decentralized Cities

In the OM Metaverse, we will have 5000 self-governing districts in 10 self-governing cities in a single world. 6529 stated he specifically wants to focus on art and education, which is what he is good at, but the majority of the districts will be left up to the people.

What people?

On 6529’s website, avatars can send applications offering what they might want to include to make the OM Metaverse a better experience.

This process is going to be slow, so it will be critical for OM to adopt fast User Generated Content, otherwise I see no chance they can scale as well as Roblox.

The Community

As thing’s evolved over the years during my days on Roblox, we went from using team speak to using Discord, which took over completely. Nowadays almost every community is on Discord, as it’s by far the most important pillar when building a community.

It’s how the community functions, shares information, gathers, and molds together.

I haven’t seen a Discord with more creatives ready to start building than OM’s Discord. This alone makes me bullish on the project’s potential.

Again, the future of Web 3.0 is communities surrounding it.

How we beat the Web 2.0 Metaverse ?

It’s simple, Crypto Innovation.

The issue

Right now it doesn’t look like OM is offering any forms of payment for their creators, so although it costs nothing to enter OM right now, you aren’t receiving any $ either. Hence, it will be much more difficult to bring creators over, especially the top 1-5% who are earning millions of dollars on Roblox.

But again, the main idea of OM right now is that we can now offer NFT projects their own unique buildings or districts to gain a more immersive experience with. This is the entire purpose of NFT’s in the first place. They belong in the Metaverse and OM is finally offering exactly that.

After speaking to 6529 directly in my DM’s, I’m sure the future will look like Open Metaverse offering different districts the opportunity to implement features like play and earn.

The Servers

The servers are client based. Right now, we are still doing testing, with the most recent test sampling 200 players in one server achieving an average of 60 FPS. So, if you have an M1 Macbook or similar you should be fine.

“mfers” NFT project was the first project to help OM undergo this testing.

We will continue to undergo testing within OM in order to see what we can handle, especially as we release more features that may bottleneck OM.

OM is VR compatible. However, a notable issue is that some of the moving art can be nauseating to some. This is a problem for VR in general, so not OM specific.

As we scale into bigger districts, the crucial part will be what can be built and who can handle it, not only on a Computer but a Mobile/VR device.

Mobile is likely the most critical as the majority of Web 2.0 metaverse users are on mobile, as well as it being the most affordable option to access. Apple’s AR/VR technology releasing in 2023 will also be critical to pay attention to as it might start a great transition into the technology.

I have a post releasing soon on some updates on Apple’s AR glasses, so stay tuned for that.

The Amazing Opportunity Open Metaverse is offering

A lot of people on my Twitter keep trying to shill me new Metaverse projects, but they’re all essentially the same and limited, which is an immediate turn off. The land in the Metaverse isn’t limited, stop kidding yourself. Saying land in the Metaverse should be limited for any project is like telling someone in the 90’s the internet will be a limited place so you can only create a small set amount of things, it’s simply not true. Any project that has a limit of land is immediately doomed. Why ?

What happens long term when the people who own the land have no clue how to make something enjoyable? The land will remain the same. Will they just scratch and reopen worlds? It’s silly. These Metaverses will only act as tourist towns (think New York but on a way smaller scale).

What Open Metaverse has decided to do, which no other project has done so far, is decide not to just take our sweet ETH but instead have created a form to draw from Users’ ideas so it can serve the best possible product, and topping it off with an Unlimited amount of land. Just like websites find value through figuring out what to provide users, the metaverse works in the same way, and the amount of avatars you can secure will be the value your land brings.

I’m the 3rd person to comment his idea on the form. It’s super short as I’m already discussing plans with 6529, which is pending due to testing requirements. The type of project I want to build can’t start until certain new features are added – more on this later. But nonetheless, this is a big current issue as if I can’t get started on my project, it just means Roblox will keep seeing massive growth that OM won’t be able to catch up to for months to years.

Open Metaverse is currently in its alpha phase, so options are limited with what you can do, and their current focus is on NFT collectors/artists. I’m bullish on this content focus as you’ve seen me explain in Tweets. Soon NFT’s will be so immersive you can teleport through them to the NFT collector’s virtual world. But clearly to push that we will need to update how OM works and its capabilities with Gaming.

The Great Transfer

As things progress in Open Metaverse, we will slowly (potentially) see community leaders transferring from Roblox to OM. Why?

As a centralized platform, Roblox has many issues, the most obvious being the servers. They can only manage to run a hundred usually, and most are less. OM immediately solves this issue because they can enable thousands of players to be within a single server. This would be revolutionary for how communities function inside worlds.

A common meme on Roblox is “Telling people in the server to leave so my friend can join.”

Having the opportunity to enable thousands of players in a single server regardless of graphics is critical for a Metaverse.

Now, of course, Roblox is looking to update their servers just like OM is trying to do. The most recent update allows virtual worlds to enable 700-player servers, but for most current worlds out there, this isn’t something that’s necessary.

So you may ask, is a huge open metaverse that allows that many players necessary in the first place?

Well if we take a look at a few things like concerts or NFT events, then likely yes. It could play a significant role.

But the idea isn’t to just cluster a ton of players in a single server, the thought process is to enable several communities in a single world, you can’t do this on Roblox. Which already peaks a huge interest in my mind as a Roblox Architect. To allow several communities to start forming their own entire cities would mean something we never experienced before.

Whats currently on OM ?

– The 6529 Museum of Art

– The museums of 6529 team members

What’s next to be added in OM ?

  • Gooch island

  • Wassiest District

  • Wicked district

  • Capsule house District

  • Gutter cat gang

  • Whale district

It is my favorite visualization of NFT art to-date.
I also think it may be the most high end art NFTs ever displayed in one place.
